The characteristics of low frequency fluctuations in the equatorial Pacific are analyzed using the observed water level data of 22 stations at the latitude 10 degrees north and south of the equator and the current data at the 140 ° W floating station. It is found that the variation of the time scale in the equatorial Pacific is a common phenomenon. The variation of the time scale in the upper ocean seasons in the tropical Western Pacific Ocean can be caused by the fluctuation of Kelvin baroclinic mode with eastward nature and the Rossby baroclinic mode with westward nature. The wave velocity propagating on the equator and eastward About 2.7m / s, the wave velocity in the north and west of the equator is about 1.6m / s. At a depth of 250 m in the eastern equatorial Pacific, the impact of the low-frequency changes in the western Pacific on the flow rate can be seen. The average velocity from the western Pacific to the eastern Pacific is about 1.3 m / s. The low-frequency variations in the Central Pacific have the characteristics of standing waves. The occurrence of Elinino events from 1986 to 1987 was related to this standing wave oscillation.
