传统上,隐喻仅被视为一种特殊的修辞格,而认知语言学家则认为隐喻是人类的思维方式,是“我们对抽象范畴进行概念化的有力的认知工具”。在语言学习中,尤其是词汇学习中,隐喻扮演着十分重要的角色。借助隐喻学习词汇符合认知规律,同时也符合词汇的发展规律,因此对英语学习中的词汇教学有一定的借鉴作用。本文主要介绍概念隐喻、隐喻对词汇的解释力以及隐喻对词汇教学的启示这三方面入手展开进行。
Traditionally, metaphor is only regarded as a special kind of figure of speech, whereas cognitive linguists consider metaphor as human way of thinking and “a powerful cognitive tool for conceptualizing abstract categories.” Metaphor plays a very important role in language learning, especially vocabulary learning. With the aid of metaphor, learning vocabulary complies with the law of cognition, and at the same time also complies with the law of the development of vocabulary. Therefore, it has some reference to vocabulary teaching in English learning. This article mainly introduces the concept metaphor, the explanatory power of metaphor on vocabulary and the enlightenment of metaphor on vocabulary teaching.
