用流体静压方法进行金属丝拉拔,具有一定优点。在拉拔中,如果润滑压力上升,拉拔力会相应减小,而且高压润滑可使磨损程度降低。随着润滑压力增加,润滑膜就会增厚。通常,在拉拔速度增加的同时,流体静压也增高。对于一些难拉拔的材料,如果没有合适的润滑剂,可以应用压力润滑的方法来加工。当然,采用高压润滑方法拉拔后的金属丝表面要粗糙些。
