磁鼓可用为电子计算机及其他信息处理机械的存貯装置。这里谈到的磁鼓的研制工作开始于1956年初。电子应用研究室在试制部协助下承担了这一工作。1958年2月开始采用在载磁体上电镀存貯介质的方法。在机械精度提高的同时,电路方面巳经晶体管化。随之,磁鼓的笫一次试制工作宣告结束。这台磁鼓的机械性能公认为达到很高水平。本文介绍一下这台磁鼓机械部分的设计要点及工作上的重点。
Drums are used as storage devices for computers and other information processing machines. The development of the drum mentioned here began in early 1956. The Electronic Applications Laboratory undertook this work with the assistance of the Pilot Department. February 1958 started using the method of electroplating storage media on a magnetic carrier.
