Reading of Scientific and Technical Explanations is a Difficult Problem in Chinese Teaching in Middle Schools. The crux of the matter is that the technical explanatory text itself is rather obscure. Besides, there is no effective theory available to readers for reference. This “bottleneck” problem has always been hard to break through. This article introduces the theory of Discourse Analysis of Systemic Functional Linguistics and tries to make a preliminary exploration of the textual structure patterns that are common in Chinese scientific and technical documents from a macroscopic perspective.
