司空图《诗品》中曾提出“不著一字,尽得风流”的主张,受到后世诗论家赞许。这一主张的好处何在?请看辛稼轩一首词《丑奴儿》:“少年不识愁滋味,爱上层楼。爱上层楼,为赋新词强说愁。而今识尽愁滋味,欲说还休。欲说还休,却道天凉好个秋。”这首词,表面看是作者今昔对比地说自己写词的体会。在过去,少年气盛,爱作表现,虽无真实感受,却“爱上层楼”,操笔硬写,只得“强说愁”;到了成年,遍尝人间烦愁,思想深刻了,艺术修养成熟了,就觉得只是“愁呀愁”,实在无趣,故“欲说还休”,但情深意切欲罢不能,所以“却道天凉好个秋”。
