本文通过缕述上个世纪二十年代消费主义在美国兴起的历史背景,结合对海明威的第一部长篇小说《太阳照常升起》的文本细读及人物分析,试图揭示这样一个事实,即消费主义在二战后在西方世界的真正兴盛之前,在人民的经济生活和道德生活即将产生巨变之前,海明威作为一个敏锐的作者,注意到并通过其小说反映出这种历史潮流。不仅如此,他还用生动的笔触展现出小说中人物的物质消费享乐与精神空虚之间的强烈反差,以此反映作者对消费主义的真实态度。
This article tries to reveal the fact that consumption consumes by describing the historical background of the rise of consumerism in the United States in the 1920s and text reading and character analysis of Hemingway’s first novel “The Sun Also Rises” Before World War II the real rise of the Western world, Hemingway as a keen author noticed and reflected this historical trend until his people’s economic and moral life is about to change dramatically. Not only that, he also vividly reveals the strong contrast between the material consumption enjoyment and spiritual emptiness of the characters in the novels to reflect the author’s true attitude to consumerism.
