本文以两次中英商务会议作为研究资料,对其中口译员的口译行为进行研究。研究发现口译员在“敏感时刻”经常违反职业规范和操守,扣留或删减信息,导致了中英双方的误解。究竟是什么在左右这位口译员“脱离常规”的行为呢?本文将运用Brown和Levinson提出的面子威胁行为理论(Face Threatening Act),试图从跨文化交际的新视角进行探究。研究得出:口译是一种跨文化交际行为,口译过程中口译员应该充分意识到母语文化和异质文化在价值观、思维方式等方面的异同,努力克服由母语文化的思维定势造成的交际障碍;在遇到敏感而又特别重要的话题时,可采用婉转的方式进行翻译,或者附上一定的文化解释,巧妙地进行文化调解,使重要信息得以真实、有效地传递,保证交际双方顺畅沟通。
In this paper, two Sino-British business meetings as a research data, which interpreters oral interpretation of conduct research. The study found that interpreters frequently violated professional norms and ethics and detained or abridged information at the “sensitive moment”, which led to a misunderstanding between China and Britain. What exactly is going on about the interpreter ’s behavior of “getting away from the convention ” This paper will use Face Threatening Act proposed by Brown and Levinson to explore a new perspective of intercultural communication. It is concluded that interpreting is a kind of intercultural communication. During interpreting, interpreters should be fully aware of the similarities and differences between the native culture and the heterogeneous culture in the aspects of values and ways of thinking, and strive to overcome the communicative situations caused by the thinking of the native culture Obstacles; When sensitive and especially important topics are encountered, they may use tactful translation methods or attach some cultural explanations to cleverly carry out cultural mediation so that important information can be transmitted truthfully and effectively to ensure smooth communication between both parties communication.
