The West-East Gas Pipeline stretches 4,200 kilometers across the country. The construction project of 8,000 miles away, investment of over 100 billion yuan, and transmission volume of over 10 billion cubic meters can be regarded as a big idea and a big deal for developing the western region and expanding domestic demand. One of the biggest differences between the “West-East Gas Pipeline” project and those of early years is that it not only has to invest in, build, but also embrace the market and seek returns. Judging from the demand forecast made by provinces and autonomous regions along the route, the total gas demand has far exceeded the gas transmission volume of West Gas in the pipeline. An interesting contrast is that the closer to the eastern economically more developed regions, the higher the demand for natural gas. The West-East Gas Transmission Project actually provided a deed to speed up the adjustment of energy structure and industrial structure in each province (region, city) along the route.
