1 Introduction The classical beam theory is based on the assumption of a flat section and does not consider the effects of shear deformation. This theory applies only to long beams (ie many times larger than the cross-sectional dimension). The short beam (that is, the span length is much larger than the cross-sectional size) can not ignore the impact of shear deformation. For example, the whole shear wall often belongs to the short beam. At present, Timoshenko’s method of adding shear deformation deflection is widely used to solve the short-beam problem, which is effective for the calculation of natural vibration but can not solve the cross-section stress distribution.
