The mechanism of human atrial fibrillation (AF) remains unclear. Laboratory and clinical data suggest that the occurrence and persistence of AF are related to reentry. There is no gross circulatory loop in this arrhythmia, but there is only a multifold reversion with a functional morphological change. To further elucidate the mechanism of AF termination and persistence, the authors studied the intra-atrial potential during AF using a novel electrophysiological method that includes multiple clinical parameters, the Wavelength Index. The law is a semi-quantitative method that can reflect the size of the heart micro-retreat path. The authors collected data from 30 of 482 patients who underwent cardiac electrophysiology examinations between August 1982 and July 1990. Entry criteria for conventional electrical stimulation induced AF, the heart no obvious organic disease, thyroid function is normal. These cases are divided into two groups. A group of 20 cases, they were evoked AF self-termination of the electrophysiological examination; B AF group lasts at least 30min. There was no significant difference in age between the two groups. The wavelength equals the product of the refractory period and the conduction velocity.
