早在辛亥革命前夕,时人便已产生清朝将亡的强烈预感。据恽毓鼎记述,当时国内矛盾已相当激化,危机四伏,时局俨然成为一个火药桶,只待导火索的点燃了。由于清政府没有通畅的渠道得以准确获知士民心声,从而丧失了亡羊补牢的最佳时机。
As early as the eve of the Revolution of 1911, no one had already had a strong sense of premonition about the demise of the Qing dynasty. According to Gao Yu Ding’s account, at that time the contradictions in China were already quite exasperated. The crisis was steep and the situation seemed to have become a powder keg, only to be ignited by the fuse. Since the Qing government did not have a clear channel to get the accurate knowledge of its citizens, thus losing the best time to make ends meet.
