中国画既没有走向完全的写实,亦没有走向彻底的抽象,而是始终以“意象”表现为最高原则。中国画的写意性,是其一大特点,也是和西方绘画的重要区别。写意是意念的造型观,写实是求真的造型观,在对事物的观察方法和表现形式上有着根本的不同。西方艺术从古希腊、古罗马、中世纪、文艺复兴直到19世纪上半叶,一直走在写实的道路上。西方绘画的发展是与科学同步的,正是透视学、解剖学、光学等学科的发展,造就了西方艺术的科学理性精神。我们在观看由文艺复兴到浪漫主义的大师们的作品时,不能不为其严谨和惟妙惟肖所感动。写实精神给人类文明的贡献
Chinese painting did not move toward complete realism, nor did it move toward a complete abstraction, but always represented as supreme principle by “imagery.” The freehand brushwork of Chinese painting is one of its major features and also an important difference from Western painting.
