Japan Institute of Chemical Technology using semiconductor catalyst (TiO 2) developed a complete decomposition of the organic phosphide technology. Organophosphorus compounds are widely used as pesticides and surfactants, but there are environmental problems. The use of TiO 2, one of the semiconductor photocatalysts, established a technique for photolysis of trimethyl phosphate, trimethyl phosphonate and dimethyl dithiophosphate. This technique is attracting attention as a method of treating organophosphorus compounds. When TiO 2 with a particle size of 1.3 μm was used as a catalyst, the reaction was performed in the sunlight (mixed TiO 2 21 g in 250 ml of trimethylphosphoric acid solution
