This is the article by S. Howard Hansford, a British scholar, presented at an academic conference on January 10, 1949, and published in 1951, after the publication of the Oriental Ceramic Society: 1948-1949 (The Journal of Oriental Ceramics, 1948 ~ 1949 edition). The original name is “A Visit to An-Yang” (Visit Anyang). A western scholar’s line of sight records the status of the Yin Ruins site before the arrival of new Chinese scholars after the excavators of the Academia Sinica’s history. During the more than 80 years of archeological history in Yin Ruins, the Yin Ruins in the period of the Anti-Japanese War were almost empty. This translator has long been working in the Anyang Team of the Institute of Archeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, translating the text into Chinese and telling us an objective Anyang from the late 1930s.
