第一次看到马书林先生的戏曲人物画是在中国美术馆的某个展览上,只觉得眼睛一亮:画得好!戏曲人物怎么可以这样画?这人也够聪明的了。是的,别人的戏剧人物可从来不这样画。戏曲人物从来是比较小品的,而马书林戏曲人物最直接而突出的特点:不是小品。戏曲人物的墨戏小品特点曾经直接制约了它表现上的丰富性。但马书林的戏曲人物不仅画面尺幅大,而且场面也大。在他的大尺幅作品中,有时有七、八个人物,多时甚至有十来个人物,生旦净末,红红绿绿,再加上城楼几案、战袍武器,把偌大一个纸面挤得满满实实。就算是两三个人,有时,就只有一两个人,四尺整纸乃至七尺、八尺的
