李长之的《红楼梦批判》是中国现代小说批评史上取得的重要成果,该著自觉运用德国古典美学观念系统而周密地探讨了《红楼梦》的艺术成就,具体表现在:以审美的眼光对待曹雪芹的创作态度,认定《红楼梦》是出自有文学素养的大家之作;肯定《红楼梦》在人物塑造上的成功,提出了以理想作为评价人物的艺术标准;重视《红楼梦》的形式技巧,认为其形式“表现”和“传达”了作者的体验和精神。《红楼梦批判》的内涵和魅力对于今天的红学研究仍有深刻的启示价值。
Li Changzhi’s “Criticism of A Dream of Red Mansions” is an important achievement made in the history of the criticism of modern Chinese novels. He conscientiously explores the artistic achievement of “Dream of Red Mansions” by using the system of German classical aesthetics specifically in the aesthetic treatment of Cao Xueqin’s creation Attitude, that “A Dream of Red Mansions” is from literary accomplishments for everyone; affirmed “A Dream of Red Mansions” in the character of the success of the building, put forward the ideals as the art of evaluation criteria; emphasis on “A Dream of Red Mansions” in the form of skills that its form “Performance” and “Communication” have the author’s experience and spirit. The connotation and charisma of “A Dream of Red Mansions Criticism” still have profound enlightenment value for today’s red-school research.
