我们第一要改革的,是学生的观念。我在译学馆的时候,就知道北京学生的习惯。他们平日对于学问上并没有什么兴会,只要年限满后,可以得到一张毕业文凭。教员是自己不用功的,把第一次的讲义,照样印出来,按期分散给学生,在讲坛上读一遍,学生觉得没有趣味,或瞌睡,或看看杂书,下课时,把讲义带回去,堆在书架上。等到学期、学年或毕业的考试,教员认真的,学生就拼命的连夜阅读讲义,只要把考试对付过去,就永远不再去翻一翻了。要是教员通融一点,学生就先期要求教员告知他要出的题目,至少要
