China is the world’s largest textile market for its proportion of 50% global textile processing, with textile fabric wholesale markets of various sizes distributed throughout the country. After a golden development period, the textile industry is suffering a number of problems such as rising labor costs, excess capacity, and low value-added products, urgently requiring transformation and upgrading. In such a context, the Oriental Textile Mall came into being for the innovation of a business mode of “textile + garments + intelligent manufacturing + internet = creating value in alliance” and the construction of an “oriental O2O platform for textile and garments” and a “720-degree everlasting show”.
Oriental Textile Mall, located in Shishi which is known as a “Famous City of Casual Wear in China” and a “Famous City of Casual Fabric Trading in China”, was launched by Fujian Dongfang Gaoshang E-commerce Co., Ltd. with a strategy of “Internet + Business”. According to the company’s president Hong Jianzhong, based on the combination of fashion trends, style designing, and fabrics and accessories, Oriental Textile Mall is to provide onestop supply chain services globally for designers, clothing brands, garment plants, and suppliers of fabrics and accessories, building an O2O ecosphere to share resources worldwide. It is to be a national unique industry-specific brand platform with local characteristics.
Hong Jianzhong stated that the textile fabric industry, though so tremendous a scale up to trillion yuan, is still running mainly in a form of wholesale markets with low efficiency. “Internet + Textile Fabrics” cannot only improve efficiency and lower costs but also lead to changes in business mode which is also an innovation of textile material supply chain. The integrated operation of online trading as well as warehousing, banks, and regulators is capable of guaranteeing safe and efficient transaction processes, matched by no traditional trading ways. It is an important way to boost transformation and upgrading of textile enterprises.
Hong Jianzhong believes that new era characteristics and development trends have come out driven by the mobile Internet, big data, and cloud computing. Therefore, industry-specific optimization and upgrading is in more urgent need. Providing services of the textile and garment industrial chain as well as the one-stop online direct purchase will become the core. Individual needs of textile fabrics are more operable, and offering Internet + Personalized and mobile fabrics and related products is a chance for traditional textile and apparel industry to upgrade.
Difficult to design good products though looking around for materials has run out of energy and time; hard to find suitable fabrics or accessories though the design inspiration has comes and the design draft has come out; imbalances between costs and benefits from business expansion in setting up a huge business team with additional costs(salary, commission, travel and other expenses); no targeted development of new products, causing waste samples, waste of time, and increased development costs, ... Such series of industry pain points, with the establishment of the O2O ecosphere, may find a solution that the optimization of one-step garment making will be achieved through alliances of fabric & accessory suppliers, garment factories, designers, and brands.
