A research team led by Professor Shinichi Urban, Organic Electronics Research Center at Yamagata University of Japan, has successfully developed a technology for manufacturing organic EL (Electro-Luminescence) components using printing technology. Compared with the existing vacuum evaporation technology, the power consumption of the printing technology can be reduced below 1%, which greatly reduces the production cost. In the existing organic EL devices, several layers of nanometer to several tens of nanometers of compounds are deposited on the substrate by the vacuum evaporation technology. In particular, the electron injection layer must be vapor-deposited metal and insulating materials in a vacuum environment, which is difficult to realize by printing technology.
