Objective To investigate the effect of cell phone radiation on brain injury in pregnant rats and fetal rats. Methods The contents of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the pregnant rat and fetal rat brain were measured after exposure to different intensities of mobile phone. Results Compared with the control group, the contents of SOD, GSH-Px and MDA in the brain of pregnant rats were not significantly different (P> 0.05). The SOD activity (U / mg.prot) in brain tissue of radiation group was decreased, the difference was statistically significant between high intensity group (38.56 ± 4.62), middle intensity group (40.05 ± 4.74) and control group (43.53 ± 5.38) (P <0.05). The level of GSH-Px (U / mg.prot) decreased in high intensity group (33.80 ± 6.29) and middle intensity group (35.03 ± 7.18) compared with the control group (40.58 ± 8.03) (4.09 ± 0.68), the moderate intensity group (3.95 ± 0.64) and the control group (2.89 ± 0.57), the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05); the MDA content (nmol / mg.prot) (P <0.05). However, there was no significant difference in SOD activity (42.79 ± 5.06), GSH-Px (39.95 ± 9.02) and MDA content (3.05 ± 0.76) in the low intensity group compared with the control group P> 0.05). Conclusion Pregnant mice receiving cell phone electromagnetic radiation during pregnancy for a certain period of time, will have some damage to the antioxidant system of the offspring brain tissue.
