An experimental investigation on a new Axial Cyclone Dust Collector(ACDC) has been carried out in this paper. According to the characteristics of particle movement in Rankine vortex flow inside cyclone collectors, a new high efficient ACDC model with 124mm diameter was designed and built. The measurement of flow field inside this new ACDC model was made with a five holes spherical probe. The showing test of flow field was carried out with a simple wind vane method. The collection efficiency and pressure drop of this ACDC model have been tested. The experimental study shows that the characteristics of vortex flow in ACDC are quite similar to that in ordinary cyclone dust collectors(OCDC). The flow speed in radial direction of ACDC is higher than that of OCDC. When the pressure drop of ACDC is equal to that of OCDC, the collection efficiency of ACDC is higher than that of OCDC.
