BROTHER A’ming was our tour guide at shimmering Lake Yangcheng. A well built man of medium size, A’ming was simple and honest, but shrewd at the same time. He loved his hometown, and never tired of telling visitors about its culinary specialities. On the dining tables of local Bacheng people, every course is a product of the lake: fish of all kinds, shrimps, shellfish, and snails. That evening we decided to have a feast of mussels, snails and crabs. Naturally it was A’ming who did the shopping. He said only local people knew the best crabs; that the best feast came from the best male and female crabs.
