《艺苑卮言》的复杂成书与思想局限

学界一般认为《艺苑卮言》是充分体现王世贞文学思想的一部力作,也是考察明代复古派文学主张和后期学说嬗变轨迹的重要著作。古往今来,它一直被广泛征引、摘录、阐发,有人称其价值可与《文心雕龙》、《沧浪诗话》相比~①。但学人至今缺乏对《艺苑卮言》历史真貌和成书过程的深入细致考察,难以区分它与衍生的《艺苑卮言附录》、《艺苑卮言别录》、《宛委余编》之间关系,征引时常有指称混乱现象。也有人不知晓王世贞撰写《艺苑卮言》时的求名心理和愤世心态,将其视之为王世贞和七子派文学思想的全部展现,显然欠妥。文章拟在俞为民、李燕 It is generally accepted by the academic community that “Yi Yuan Shi Yan” is a masterpiece that fully reflects Wang Shizhen’s literary thinking and is also an important work to examine the literary ideas of the retro school and the evolution of later theories in the Ming Dynasty.
