One day， Thomas Edison came home and gave a letter to his mother. “My teacher told me to only give this letter to you， Mom.” His mother’s eyes were tearful as she read the letter out loud to her child， “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself.”
　　Many years after Edison’s mother had died， Edison had become one of the greatest inventors of the century. One day he was going through the old closet and he found a folded letter which was given to him by his teacher for his mother. He opened it. The message written on the letter was， “Your son is mentally ill. We can not let him attend our school anymore. He is expelled1.”
　　Edison became emotional reading it and then he wrote in his diary， “Thomas Alva Edison was a mentally ill child whose mother turned him into the genius of the century.”
　　A mother’s love and upbringing2 can help change the destiny of a child.
　　一天，托馬斯·爱迪生回到家里，交给妈妈一封信：“我的老师让我把这封信只给你看。”他的妈妈含着眼泪大声给儿子读出了信中的内容：“你的孩子是个天才。这个学校对他来说太小了，没有足够的好老师来训练他，请你自己教他吧。”
　　母亲去世很多年后，爱迪生成了那个世纪最伟大的发明家之一。一天，他在细查旧橱柜时发现了那封折叠的、由他老师让他转交给母亲的信。他打开了信，上面写着这样的话：“你的儿子智力上有毛病，我们不能再让他上学了，他被开除了。”
　　读着读着，爱迪生愈发感动。后来，他在日记里写道：“托马斯·阿尔瓦·爱迪生是个智力有问题的孩子，是他的母亲让他成为了一个世纪天才。”
　　母亲的爱和抚育能够改变一个孩子的命运。
