1. Collision Theory In 1918, Lewis applied the theory of molecular motion theory to propose the collision rate theory. The theory holds that the collision of reactant molecules is a necessary condition for the reaction. The higher the collision frequency of reactant molecules, the faster the reaction rate. But not every collision can cause a reaction, the reaction can cause a small number of collisions, known as the effective collision. Effective collision conditions are: (1) collide with each other reactants molecules should have the appropriate collision orientation, orientation appropriate to react.
