明代后期通俗小说在刊刻方面出现明显的商业特点。书商坊主已具有浓厚的商业意识 ,他们注意及时捕捉作家的写作信息并把握时机将预见可谋利的书尽快投放市场。他们有的致力精选一些小说作品 ,刊刻出一些精选性的小说专集。出于商业目的 ,他们往往把同一作品而以不同书名刊刻梓行 ,或对某些名家名作、畅销书多次再版。他们甚至伪造、假托、剽窃名牌作品 ,或盗用一些知名小说批评家的名字以欺世谋利
Popular novels in the late Ming Dynasty appeared obvious commercial characteristics in the issue. Bookshop owners already have a strong business sense, they pay attention to timely capture the writer’s writing information and seize the opportunity to foresee a profitable book as soon as possible on the market. Some of them are dedicated to select some novel works, published a selection of selected novels. For commercial purposes, they tend to print the same work under different titles, or masterpieces of some masters, best-selling book multiple reprints. They even fake, pretend, plagiarize the brand-name works, or steal some famous novelist’s name to deceive the world for profit
