钱宁先生是著名的泥沙专家,生前曾任清华大学教授、中国科学院学部委员、中国水利学会名誉理事、国际泥沙研究培训中心顾问委员会副主席.他把毕生精力献给了泥沙科学,对黄河、长江的治理作出了重要的贡献.他又是我国河流泥沙研究工作的卓越组织者之一,为培养研究骨干力量及推动国际泥沙研究合作做出了巨大努力,卓著成效. Mr. Qian Ning is a famous sediment expert. Before his death, he served as a professor at Tsinghua University, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an honorary director of the China Institute of Water Resources, and a vice chairman of the Advisory Board of the International Sediment Research and Training Center. He devoted his life to sediment science. He has made important contributions to the governance of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. He is also one of the outstanding organizers of China’s river sediment research work. He has made tremendous efforts and outstanding achievements in cultivating and researching backbone forces and promoting international cooperation in sediment research.
