The injection of a stable pre-crosslinked microgel as a relative permeability modifier to reduce the production of formation water is conducive to minimizing the risk of formation plugging and thus improving the success rate of deep treatment. Microgels in a diffused state are homogeneous, and as the shear rate increases, their size decreases. When the state changes, the formed microgels are not the same in all directions, and their size decreases only little with the increase of the shear rate. The experimental data show that the formulation of pre-crosslinked microgels can be optimized as needed. The optimized gels can be used either as profile modifying agents for improving relative permeability or in polymer flooding to increase viscosity
