The patient was male, 51 years old. In October 1995, he was stabbed by pine wood chips under the nail of the right thumb. There was swelling and ulceration under the nail. He had been treated with partial dressing and anti-infective treatment for nearly 2 months and no improvement was seen. After removing the nails, the nails were improved after local surgical treatment, but the wounds often failed to heal. In November 1996, a rice-sized nodule was found on the right thumb and the color was dark red. The pathological biopsy was diagnosed as malignant melanoma. Immediate right thumb truncation was performed.
