The design of laterally loaded bored piles in viscous and sandy soil has been studied by many scholars over the past 25 years. In 1955, Terzaghi used foundation reaction force as a design criterion when pile was subjected to lateral load. In 1957 Czernlak conducted a detailed structural analysis of long and short piles based on the proposed value of Terzaghi’s ground reaction.
