用0.2%的秋水仙水溶液对10叶期左右的辣椒幼苗进行滴心处理,从其中一处理单株的自交后代中选出一棵四倍体单株。通过几年的繁殖和综合鉴定,目前已形成了稳定的辣椒四倍体系统,四倍体的主要特征特性表现为植株高大、叶片、花冠、花蕾明显大于原品种,果实短而粗;种子量较少,但子粒较大,小区产量不及原品种,但主要营养成分略高于原品种。用四倍体和二倍体进行杂交,其杂种一代表现基本无子。
