The Phelps Dodge Moranxi Mine has implemented a proactive blasting design to improve the strategy of blasting fragmentation. This strategy was developed in a specific phase, including the stabilization of blasting work, the system improvement of blasting design, and the quantitative stage of blasting block distribution. It is impossible to implement this new strategy without an accurate quantitative method of the fragmentation distribution after blasting. The Split image processing system is being used to estimate the degree of fragmentation using a daily burst of digital imaging technology and an on-line crush analysis system installed on a coarse crusher that is currently using Split image processing equipment to estimate crushed blocks degree. Entering a database of blast variables and fragmentation, making a three-dimensional evaluation in a GIS and then mining design work. Due to the application of this strategy, the crushing effect after blasting has been greatly improved and is expected to continue to improve over the next few years
