音级集合理论确实是一种重要的分析方法,但是,音级集合理论在国外的发展并非毫无争议。最为重要、最为深刻、也是第一篇对福特音级集合理论展开批评的文献是理查德·塔鲁斯金对福特《<春之祭>的和声组织》一书的批判性评论。这篇犀利的文论揭开了对福特音级集合理论进行批评的序幕,引发了更多对这一理论适用性和分析范围的思考和争论。同时,也促使福特及其他理论家反思音级集合理论的不足并尝试进一步完善这一分析理论。
The theory of sound level aggregation is indeed an important method of analysis. However, the development of sound level aggregation theory in foreign countries is not uncontroversial. The most important and profound one, and the first one to criticize Ford’s tonic level theory, is Richard Taluskin’s critical commentary on Ford’s “Voice of Harmony”. This sharp literary theory opened the prelude to criticism of Ford’s tonal class theory and triggered more thoughts and arguments on the applicability and scope of the theory. At the same time, Ford and other theorists are also encouraged to reflect on the inadequacies of sound level aggregation theory and try to further improve this theory.
