Methods: The maximum response of FERG was measured in 41 elderly (69 eyes) normal subjects. The results were compared with those of the control group (30-40 years old normal subjects) (Senile cataract) with different lens turbidity (according to WHO cataract classification) on the F ERG. Results: The amplitudes of a wave in the maximum response to F ERG in the elderly aged 5 ~ 75 years were smaller than that in the control group (0 0 1
0 1), while the amplitude of b wave was significantly less than that of female (P <0.01). CONCLUSIONS: With age, dark adaptation to flash ERG (F ERG) response is reduced and physiological function of retina is diminished. Lens opacification caused by cataract further weakens the ERG response and affects visual function. The maximum response to F ERG exists Sex differences
