World steel production in 1973 was 66 million tons more than in 1972, an increase of 10.5%, to 658.8 million tons. U.S. made 136.5 million tons of steel, ranking the first place again in the world. The second to the eighth countries are: the Soviet Union, Japan, West Germany, Britain, France and China.
