山姆·谢泼德是美国 6 0年代先锋派戏剧的代表人物 ,目前已受到国外学术界中凯瑟琳·休斯 ,鲁比·科恩等学者的普遍关注。他的名作《被埋葬的孩子》也同时引起了一些国内学者的瞩目。本文则重点介绍他写于196 3年至 6 0年代末的早期作品。这些作品在情境的设置、结构、语言及舞台手段等方面都较好的体现了先锋派戏剧的创作特征 ,揭示了现代生活的突发和不可预料以及现代美国人表面轻松欢快而内在孤寂困惑的情感世界。
Sam Shepherd, a representative of avant-garde plays in the 1960s in the United States, has received widespread attention from scholars such as Catherine Hughes and Ruby Cohen in foreign academic circles. His masterpiece “Buried Children” also attracted the attention of some domestic scholars. This article focuses on early works written by him from the 1960s to the late 1960s. These works embody the creative features of avant-garde drama in terms of situation setting, structure, language and stage means, revealing the sudden and unpredictable modern life and the lingering confusion and loneliness of modern Americans Emotional world.
