From a series of winning or winning short and medium-length military novels published in the 1980s and 1990s, we can see the possibilities and dilemmas that humanity faces in a rapidly changing social environment. To show that real heroes do not always have to regulate their lives with strict political and moral standards everywhere, some writers began to enrich the image of military heroes by describing the personal characteristics of model individuals in the early 1980s. These writers seek to shorten the distance between the heroic characters in their own works and ordinary people in real life. These changes show an important phenomenon in contemporary China, in which the official gradually weakened the control of cultural activities, including military literature, in ideology.
