OBJECTIVE: To investigate the correlation between the results of bioelectrical impedance and skinfold thickness measurements of body composition and the results of BOD-POD. Methods: A total of 697 residents (471 males and 226 females) from 20 to 59 years old in Shanghai were selected randomly. The body composition values determined by air replacement method were used as the standard. The bioelectrical impedance method (OMRON and TANITA) (Measurement sites for the upper arm and scapular) and the results of one-way ANOVA and correlation analysis. Results: The skinfold thickness test showed the lowest correlation with the air replacement test. In the bioelectrical impedance test, the TANITA test showed the highest correlation with the air replacement test and the low OMRON correlation. The results suggest that the reliability of TANI-TA measurement in bioelectrical impedance method is relatively high, and the reliability of measurement by skinfold thickness method (the measurement site is the upper arm and the scapular) is relatively low.
