长期以来,由于对宗教迫害的恐惧与厌恶,中世纪一直被人们认为是“黑暗的一千年”。带着这种偏见,中世纪美学和艺术也在几个世纪中遭到轻视甚至于忽略。直到19世纪,当思想界以一种公允客观的眼光去审视中世纪美学与艺术时才发现,它不仅有着独特的价值和艺术魅力,而且在古希腊罗马到文艺复兴的发展过程中起着不可忽视的推动作用。而产生这种现象的原因,基督教无疑在其中有着重要的意义。本文就从美学与艺术史角度出发,还原基督教影响下中世纪美学和艺术的价值与意义。
