《语文课程标准》指出:“语文课程致力于培养学生的语言文字能力,提升学生的综合素养,为学好其他课程打下基础。”语文课程是借助文学作品进行语文教学的,文学作品的基本特点是具有很强的审美性。学校中的审美教育就是借助现实或者艺术的美的因素,提高青少年对于自然美、社会美、艺术美的感受、理解和评价的能力,培养健康的审美趣味并帮助他们按照美的规律来表现美和创造美。语文教学正是这样要“培养爱国主义、集体主义、社会主义思想道德和健康的审美”。蔡元培先生在《教育大辞书》中的美育条目中说:“美育者,应用美学之理论于教育,以陶养感情为目的者也。”蔡老的解释在今天对学生进行审美教育有更重要的意义。
