On 17th, April, Earls Court, London, People’s Publishing House and Cengage Learning Asia Pte Ltd held a ceremony of the launch of Thirty Years of Opening Up in China(English Edition), written by Ms. Jiang Xiaojuan, one of the famous economist in China. Mr. Wu Shangzhi, Director of Publishing Administration, GAPP, Ms. Yu Qing, Deputy Chief Editor of People’s Publishing House and Mr. Manuel Guzman, EVP, Learning and Research Solutions & International, Cengage Learning, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
The Chinese version of the book was published in Oct. 2008. It is one of the “the Road of Strengthening the Country—in Memory of Opening up and Reform of 30 Years Series,” and it could be considered as an outstanding academic work in describing and analyzing the domestic publishing industry. Cengage Learning purchased the copyright in Frankfurt Book fair of 2010.
Chinese Opening-up changes the world as well as itself. Restructuring the world’s economy and the realistic influence on the peoples’ living all over the world are obvious, and as we all see that China has been changed greatly from an extremely underprivileged country to an economic giant with great international influence.
Chief editor Jiang and other contributors, including Dr. Yi Gang, Dr. Liu Shijin, Dr. Chang Qing, and Dr. Wang Zixian , are important scholars and officials in the Chinese economic policy field, both practitioners in the opening-up process and participants in the policy-making. Thus, what all they focus on the book are the most crucial and critical issues.
