His masterpiece “Cicada on the 8th” has been well received by readers since its release and has been adapted into films and TV dramas. Through the metaphorical meanings of the two key words of “empty shell” and “cicadas”, it depict how Japanese women are transformed into self-sustaining images through their sorrow, suffering and dependence. At the same time, based on the theory of liberal feudalism, “the eighth day of cicadas” is explored, revealing the Japanese women’s pursuit of happiness and transcendence of the self-image of women.
