[Objective] To analyze the relationship between various types of stroke cases and the meteorological phenomena during Shanghai World Expo. [Methods] The case data of Shanghai Stroke Monitoring System from April to October 2010 and the meteorological data published by Shanghai Meteorological Administration during the same period were obtained. The data were imported into SPSS 17.0 for statistical analysis. [Results] The incidence of stroke in Shanghai was 7629 cases. There were 6021 cases (78.92%) of cerebral infarction, 1251 cases (16.40%) of intracerebral hemorrhage, 118 cases (1.55%) of subarachnoid hemorrhage and 239 cases (3.13%) without stroke. The number of cases in each month from April to October was 460 cases in April (only 11 days), 1 194 cases in May, 1185 cases in June, 1184 cases in July, 1175 cases in August, and 1157 cases in September Month 1274 cases; here the highest temperature of 39 ℃, the lowest temperature of 8 ℃. The correlation coefficients of incidence of cerebral infarction, minimum temperature, maximum temperature and pressure were -0.046,0.044,0.048 (all P <0.001). The correlation coefficients of incidence of cerebral hemorrhage with minimum, maximum temperature and pressure were 0.048,0.047,0.046 (All P <0.001). [Conclusion] During the Shanghai World Expo, cerebral infarction was the most among stroke cases, followed by cerebral hemorrhage. The incidence of stroke in each month did not change significantly. The incidence of cerebral infarction increased with the decrease of air temperature and increased with the increase of air pressure. The incidence of cerebral hemorrhage increased with the increase of air temperature and decreased with the increase of air pressure.
