OBJECTIVE: To understand the abnormalities and changes of HBsAg and ALT in college freshmen and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of campus diseases. Methods: The detection results of freshmen HBsAg and ALT in a university in 2009 were statistically analyzed. Results: The overall positive rate of HBsAg in 5310 freshmen was 4.33%, the abnormal ALT rate was 1.47%, the positive rate of HBsAg positive ALT was 0.24%; the positive rate of HBsAg in boys was 5.00%, the positive rate of HBsAg in girls was 3.77% The difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 4.817, P <0.05). The abnormal ALT rate was 2.42% in boys and 0.453% in girls. The difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 37.989, P <0.05). CONCLUSIONS: During the new medical examination, ALT is detected in the routine blood screening and HBsAg testing is canceled. For patients with abnormal ALT, further diagnosis is made.
