After China’s accession to the WTO, will its publication of social science books be affected? Some opinions hold that the implementation of cultural protection policies is a common practice in developed countries, including the developed countries. Moreover, as a socialist country, our country is already alert to the “Westernization” and “separation” strategies of western countries. It is an inevitable choice for the government to protect the publishing industry in China, especially the humanities and social sciences. My opinion is that the problem is by no means so simple. After China’s accession to the WTO, it is certainly not possible for the state not to take corresponding measures, or to say that foreign capital will soon be acquired, newly established, and even controlled in our publishing industry. However, after China’s accession to the WTO, the breadth and depth of the exchange and collision between Chinese and foreign economic and cultural fields (including various ideological trends) will undoubtedly exceed those in the past.
