青岛市东海路环境规划设计在尊重自然、尊重历史、突出特色，提高城市建设文化品位的指导思想下，运用城市设计的手段，对城市环境、城市形象向国际水准接轨上作了初步尝试，并取得了成功。通过１２ｋｍ长的道路及环境设计，把两侧的建筑、园区、绿地、雕塑、广场、照明、市政公用设施等诸方面有机的组合，建成一条优美的城市风景长卷。以规划设计为龙头，在规划的指导下，把建筑、园林、雕塑、市政等专业的设计水平发挥出来，使城市环境设计取得了一次成功的尝试。
