In the past, Arab countries had a weak foundation of transportation because of long-term rule by colonialism and imperialism. Before the middle of the 1960s, except for large- and medium-sized cities and important oil bases with relatively decent transportation facilities, the villages and the vast rural areas mainly rely on camels and donkeys for commodity exchanges. After entering the 1970s, with the gradual strengthening of the economic strength of Arab countries, especially the rise of oil-producing countries in the economy, the transportation and transportation industry in the Arab world has achieved rapid development.
