Peat moss, as an excellent cultivating raw material, has been approved by many countries due to its large market demand and broad application prospects. In order to meet the growing market demand and to minimize the negative impact of moss moss on the environment, experimental studies on the cultivation of peat moss in peat mined areas have been carried out in Europe and North America successively. The results show that planting peat moss on the peat mining site can not only restore the peatland, increase the carbon fixation of the atmosphere, but also meet the market demand for the cultivation substrate, with strong environmental value and economic and technological feasibility. This paper introduces the methods and recent research progress of Canadian peat moss cultivation in Germany, Denmark and North America in Europe in order to provide reference for the research on peatland restoration and reconstruction and peat moss planting in China.
