Based on the micro-survey data and using the unit of probability model and the Multinomial Logit model, this paper analyzes the influence mechanism of the new generation of migrant workers’ willingness to start their business from the perspective of stratification and intergenerational division of labor. The results show that the differentiation of the migrant workers in the new generation plays a positive role in promoting their willingness to participate in the undertaking. The clearer the division of labor between the children and their parents, the stronger their willingness to participate in the undertaking. The marginal impact values of the two are 0.212 and 0.135 respectively. Under the background of stratification, the degree of education, father’s entrepreneurial level and social security have a great influence on the willingness of migrant workers to start their own businesses. However, under the background of intergenerational division of labor, the influence of gender, mothers’ level of entrepreneurship and income level is more obvious. The study also shows that the motivation of new generations of migrant workers to start their own businesses is unevenly distributed, with a minimum of 3 percentage points and a maximum of 20 percentage points difference in the probability of participation among all levels.
